Cheers for ECHHO at the Rhody Parade!

Volunteer Office Manager Linda Cooley and Executive Director Ken Dane wave to parade spectators. Volunteer Kay Goodhue rides on a scooter lift provided by ECHHO for client Marge Luther (driving). Board Chair Tom Branigan proudly walks with Kay.

Once again, as ECHHO’s parade participants proceeded past the sidewalk crowds, they were met with enthusiastic cheers and applause. It was very gratifying to experience the love and appreciation that was expressed for the ECHHO volunteers and staff who play such a vital role in helping to keep our neighbors in need living independently. As the need for ECHHO’s services continues to increase, the community is coming forward to offer its support. ECHHO would like to thank the Port Townsend Rotary, the Edith Grobe Foundation and the Edensaw Community Cancer Foundation for their financial support as well as the many businesses, private individuals, churches, physicians and health care facilities including Jefferson General Hospital and Peninsula Cancer Center. Together, we are making an important difference in people’s lives!

ECHHO Volunteer Shares a Rewarding Experience

Helping this wonderful lady today will certainly be a highlight to me for the remainder of the next few weeks. Although she’s challenged with ill health and much diminished memory…… she is spry of step, of cheery countenance, and blessed with an obvious joy of life. I have asked her to be sure to ask for me personally whenever she next needs assistance, and if I’m available, would be honored to do that. I wish more people had her outlook on life. If I were to make it analogous to my golf game -- while I don’t shoot all that well any more, I will invariably have one of those stellar memorable shots, that I refer to as my “comeback shot”. No matter how poorly I might score on the round, it’s that shot that makes me want to come back………Thelma was certainly my “comeback shot” today!
Best regards, Lane
